Each year, all our full-time employees receive 8 hours of paid volunteering leave to donate to a local cause that they connect with. Looking back over 2024, we’ve participated in neighbourhood clean-ups, cooked meals, and even helped to build houses with this time.
Here’s 5 reasons why we have our 8 hours scheme in place:
- Volunteering puts our ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) mission into action: We believe in creating the greatest good for society. Championing volunteer opportunities drives us beyond the delivery of life-changing products and into supporting positive change for our communities.
- We can accommodate all kinds of volunteer opportunities: Employees can divide their volunteering time into one hour per week over eight weeks or donate all the time in one day. The hours can also be split between multiple charities if employees would like to support more than one cause.
- We’ve built some incredible charity partnerships to leverage real impact: For example, we are an established supporter of UK charity Migrant Leaders, which matches migrant students with mentors to help them navigate exams and career development. Many of our employees have used their hours to give mentorship and witness the charity’s rewarding impact first-hand.
- We can make a difference globally: With 18,000 employees in over 100 countries worldwide, the scheme provides the opportunity to help a wide range of communities and causes.
- Our people enjoy giving back: Jimi Monix from Memphis recently volunteered at Dress for Success, a charity that helps under-served men and women looking to return to the workforce. She said: “It is rewarding to know that you are contributing to someone else’s success. I had the opportunity to serve as a “personal shopper” for a client, and I helped her select four new outfits. Her entire personality changed from the moment she walked in.”
