What is a blister?

Wound information blisters

● Blisters are caused by damage from friction to the upper skin layers (e.g. Rubbing of the heel against the shoe)
● Fluid (serum) collects between skin layers forming a “bubble”
● Can be painful when the top layer of skin is removed

Blisters treatment

● Remove the source of friction, e.g. ill fitting shoe rubbing the skin
● Leave blisters intact
● Select a dressing to cushion and protect the area such as ALLEVYN Thin
● For larger blisters, consider the use of ALLEVYN Adhesive

See your doctor if you have any underlying medical conditions or if the blister is restricting movement or causing pressure.
